Hey ALDPES-ers!
Thank you to everyone who interviewed to be a general officer for next year! As a reminder, the general officer positions for next year will be announced at banquet this Friday, so don’t you dare forget to sign up!
Additionally, thank you all for a great year. I hope that you all have a fantastic summer, and we will see you in September!!
Sincerely,

Fun Fact(s) of the Week:
Ever wonder why there are egg-laying mammals? No? Well, you can learn anyway! There are only five species of mammals which do lay eggs, including the platypus, anteaters, and echidnas. Collectively, these strange animals are called “monotremes”. They actually share more structural features with reptiles than most other mammals.
In case you were expecting something superhero-related, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes out this weekend. Also, Netflix just announced The Defenders!
Upcoming Guest Speakers
…We’re organized, but we don’t plan THAT far ahead of time.
Guests of Speakers Past
April 19th – Lang Stuttering Institute Student Leadership Organization
Our very own Heather Grosenbacher talked last week about the Lang Stuttering Institute!! This organization educates people on what stuttering is and what it is like to live with a stutter. Check out their Facebook here or the official webpage here!

General Officer Applications
You are all amazing candidates, thank you for applying!!
Support for recent campus tragedies
I’ve included a few resources for anyone who is struggling with what has happened recently around UT campus. There is no shame in reaching out and asking for help through difficult emotional times. We are always stronger when united.
- Student Emergency Services in the Office of the Dean of Students: A resource for affected students, offering absence notifications, support and advocacy.
- Counseling & Mental Health Center (CMHC): UT Austin students may call CMHC Crisis Line at 512-471-2255 to speak with a trained counselor. CMHC also has information available on its website.
- Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL): BCAL provides a central resource to anyone who is concerned about an individual on our campus and may not be sure about how best to help them. By calling the advice line (512-232-5050), or submitting information online, campus and community support networks may be accessed, optimizing the chance that individuals will receive needed assistance. Contact BCAL if you are concerned about someone and want to help.
- Student Ombuds: The Student Ombuds office is a free and voluntary confidential resource to listen to student concerns in a safe setting, provide conflict resolution techniques and identify solutions.
