In my first engineering project in college, I took on the role of group leader for our semester-long reverse engineering project to recreate a commercial water gun. As group lead, I managed project deadlines, communicated with the professor and TA about our group’s questions, and organized weekly team meetings.
The project included product analysis, hand-drawing orthographic sketches, and creating a full 3D CAD model using Solidworks. For the CAD model, I was responsible for the main body (Part 1 below), water delivery tube (Part 5), and plunger (Part 6). Additionally, I managed the assembly, integrating my teammates’ parts and modifying them to ensure proper fit. Through this project, I developed valuable skills in Solidworks modeling, assemblies, and drawings and engineering analysis skills such as FEA and mass property analysis.
