The Aptamer Database Team is one of many research projects being conducted by the Aptamer Stream, led by Research Educator Dr. Gwen Stovall. The Aptamer Stream is in the Freshman Research Initiative, which has 29 unique undergraduate research classes and labs. Aptamer Stream lab falls under The Ellington Lab with its principal investigator Dr. Andrew Elligton.
Aptamer Stream:
The University of Texas Freshman Research Initiative, the Aptamer Stream, uses oligonucleotide chemistry, in vitro selection methodology, and biochemistry to develop novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and molecular sensors. Our tool of choice for the development of these applications is an “aptamer,” which are oligonucleotide binding species. We use the methods of in vitro selection methodology to identify aptamers against a variety of targets.
The Ellington lab
The Ellington Lab conducts research in synthetic biology, protein engineering, and DNA nanotechnology at the University of Texas at Austin.
