About Rube

The challenge of Rube Goldberg is to build a complex machine to perform a simple task. To do this, we create a series of chain reactions using mechanical, electrical, and chemical energy transfers, and even more! ASME’s Rube Goldberg team combines creativity with engineering concepts. You could design and build a ping pong ball catapult in the wood shop, or 3D print a toy car. No experience necessary! Our Rube team is a great way to meet and collaborate with other ASME members and to have fun working on an awesome project!
This year, we want to focus more on community outreach, taking our machine to schools and possibly to other events to get kids in Austin interested in Engineering. In addition, if we have popular support, we might even attend the national competition!

In the past, we had the opportunity to attend the NATIONAL competition! The following video displays the machine that got us to Nationals.

Help Support the Rube Goldberg Team!

We appreciate any donated materials or funding to help us build a new dynamic machine and take it to competition each year.  We need to raise approximately $2000 for building and travel costs, but we also love donated materials as well.
