The Austin Texas Nursing Students’ Association (ATXNSA) is the premier nursing student organization of The University of Texas at Austin as well as our very own UT Austin School of Nursing. We stand to support our Longhorn nurses as well as our community by providing a space for service, networking, and rapport with one another.
Our Aim
- To promote ties among nursing students of all levels
- To build leaders among the students as future members of the nursing profession
- To strengthen the professional standards of nursing through collaborative experiences of volunteering and research initiatives
- To give back to our very own Austin neighboring city
UTNSA not only prepares Longhorn nurses to be successful in their future careers, but we help to form lasting friendships beyond our time here at UT. Through our biweekly meetings at the School of Nursing, fun social events, and various volunteering opportunities, many members have the chance to bond and enrich their skills within our organization.
Our Committees
UTNSA provides our members’ ways to reach out to our community and make an impact through the BreakThrough to Nursing (BTN) Committee and Resolutions Committee.
BreakThrough to Nursing: BTN is a committee headed by our Nursing Outreach Director.
- The goal of BTN is to encourage, inspire, and empower the youth in Austin ISD to gain the necessary knowledge in an effort that they pursue a career in the medical field.
- With various outreaching efforts, BTN may go to various schools around Austin ISD and host an interactive and engaging presentation that focuses on the role and process of becoming a nurse.
Resolutions: Our resolutions committee is headed by our Resolutions Director.
- What the resolutions strive for is to introduce policies that advance the field of nursing and the quality of patient’s health.
- By understanding policy briefs, keeping up-to-date with the current issues within nursing, and being able to communicate our voices, Resolutions has a way in research and policymaking for the nursing profession.
