The Baines Report welcomes submissions from all interested authors! We publish on a rolling basis and accept op-eds, blogs, podcasts, videocasts, photo essays, political cartoons, book reviews, and other media. Email your submissions and any questions or ideas to bainesreport@gmail.com.
Written material should be the length of a standard op-ed piece, between 500 to 1,000 words in length, written in AP style. Please include a suggested title, a brief (one to two sentence) synopsis of the article, and a photo conveying the work’s content with your submission. If the photo does not belong to the author, it should be appropriately sourced to the photographer or publication. Photos can belong to the author or other sources, with the exception of copyrighted images. If the photo does not belong to the author, it should be appropriately sourced to the photographer and/or publication. Images should be high resolution with suggested dimensions of 620×350 pixels. Where applicable, submissions can also include hyperlinks to credible sources used. All submissions should be thoroughly researched and fact-checked by the author.
Avoid using jargon and acronyms that an uninitiated audience will not understand. Tone can be aggressive, but must remain respectful. Articles should not be offensive or derogatory and should not personally attack any individuals.
Articles must be the author’s original work and all references should be referenced by quotes and hyperlinks to sources. The Baines Report requires authors to abide by the University of Texas at Austin’s established academic integrity guidelines.
