Hopes for This Summer

My number one goal for this summer is to learn. This might seem like a simple goal, but it is one that will help guide me towards my future endeavors. As a rising sophomore, pursuing a degree in Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, I am extremely excited to be participating in this cancer research program. Furthermore, I hope to improve my technical and analytical skills in order to develop as a researcher. Similarly, I intend on developing as a professional and being more knowledgeable about possible careers in the BME field. On the other hand, I am really just looking forward to getting to know my peers and making the most out of this virtual experience.

I am confident that this will be a good learning experience because I am working alongside a great team. Below is my research team, also known as pod 1 or, as Hattie Schunk calls us, the #1 pod. This team consists of Hattie Schunk and Haoqi Wang, who are our graduate students mentors, as well as Avanti and Abram who are undergraduates like me.
