“BOLT is a service organization whose purpose is to create a platform for Biomedical Engineering students to affect a positive change in the K-12 community by developing and implementing programs that promote higher education and stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in young students.”
Basically, BOLT (Biomedical Outreach and Leadership Team) is a community service organization at The University of Texas at Austin.
Our volunteering program includes: bi-weekly after-school science clubs at local Austin schools, informational sessions about engineering for local high school students, and activity booths at annual UT events and fairs. BOLT is composed primarily of Biomedical Engineering students, but we are open to any UT student with a passion for teaching K-12 kids! We also host social events throughout the year–check out the “Forms and Sign-Ups” tab to see what’s going on right now. We’re a close-knit volunteering org that always has room for more people who want to make an impact through STEM education.
