About Can Kilic

Can Kilic was born in Turkey. He completed a bachelor of science degree in physics at the Bogazici (Bosphorus) University in 2000 and then moved to the US for graduate school. He completed my PhD at Harvard University under the supervision of Nima Arkani-Hamed in 2006. He held postdoctoral positions at the Johns Hopkins University (2006-09) and at Rutgers University (2009-11). He became a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin in 2011, with a promotion to associate professor with tenure in 2017 and to professor in 2024. He is a member of the Theory Group at the Weinberg Institute for Theoretical Physics. The research of Can Kilic is focused on extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics with an emphasis on experimental signatures. Specifically, he works on model-building, collider physics, particle astrophysics and early universe cosmology.

Sanjay Mathai joins the group!

Congratulations to Sanjay Mathai for successfully completing his qualifying exam and joining the research group of Can Kilic. Sanjay is currently working on the phenomenology of loryons in extensions of the Standard Model with two Higgs doublets, and on a variation of the mesogenesis framework where the quarks are coupled to a dark sector with large CP violation.
