CHART at the Gerontological Society of America’s 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting
CHART traveled to Seattle to attend GSA’s 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting. Jean Choi, M.A. presented her talk entitled “Cumulative Stress Exposure, Neighborhood Environments, and Inflammation” and Lourdes Romañach Álvarez presented her poster entitled “Neighborhood Environment and Cognitive Function Among Older Adults in Brazil.”

8/29/24 – 8/30/24 Identifying Midlife Social Exposures that Might Modify Risk for Cognitive Impairment Associated with Early Life Disadvantage
Dr. Muñoz will present at an upcoming two-day public workshop at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to discuss the state of knowledge and identify conceptual approaches to guide research on better understanding midlife exposures that may be modifiable in reducing the risk of later-life dementia. This workshop is being supported by the National Institute on Aging. This is a competitive opportunity for mentorship and training in Best Practices of Comparative Life Course Research, using large-scale cohort studies from around the world. Congratulations!

4/1/23 CHART was awarded an Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Award (R21) from the National Institute on Aging
This grant is focused on uncovering the daily linkages between experiences with ethnic discrimination and cognitive function and variabilty in Mexican-origin adults. This project is in collaboration with Drs. Heather Cuevas (UT Austin Nursing) and Nelson Roque (PSU). You can read more about the project here.
