Continuum Description of Anisotropic Flow and Hardening Based on Lower Scale
Frédéric Barlat, Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea
Abstract
In this presentation, a scheme developed for metallic materials to account for crystallographic slip, dislocation accumulation and crystallographic texture in an approximate manner at the continuum scale is described. The intermediate scale of crystal plasticity is shown to be a key aspect of the method. The influence of other heterogeneities such as second-phases is also briefly discussed. The method does not limit itself to loading modes that are proportional but also to modes that are more complex such a load reversal or cross loading. The approach is tridimensional and can be implemented in any commercial finite element code for applications involving large plastic deformations. An example of the use of the continuum approach to the forming simulation of an advanced high strength steel product illustrates the concept.
