David and Tabitha Burke Award for Female Entrepreneurship in the Arts
The Center for Creative Economies (CCE), in partnership with philanthropists David (P’23) and Tabitha (’23) Burke, is pleased to offer funding awards in support of the business endeavors of undergraduate or graduate students in the College of Fine Arts. The award supports student-led businesses or projects in defraying their costs.
The following is a list of costs that would qualify for award funding. Please note this list is not exhaustive.
- Equipment purchases/rentals
- Space rentals (venue, studio space)
- Professional fees (legal counsel, accountant services)
- Marketing costs
- Patent registration fees
- Product development costs
- Miscellaneous costs
Award
Each award will range from $500 to $2500.
Deadline
- Fall 2024 applications were due Monday, September 30.
Eligibility
- This award is open to any undergraduate and graduate student with a major in COFA.
- Students may only receive this award once during their time at UT.
- Eligibility is inclusive of all gender identities.

In the application, you will be asked to:
- Write a 200 word statement describing your creative business or project, and its contribution to the development of your career
- Write a 200 word statement that describes how you will deploy the award
- Statements that are noticeably under or over the word count will be disqualified.
- Upload a completed budget form
