The following information provides helpful guidelines to a variety of enrollment processes Fine Arts Student Affairs can support you with. For non-academic support, please see CMHC for mental health resources, SES for emergency situations, and SSD for disability services. Thank you!
One-Time Exception Drop (only can be used once while at UT Austin)
From Wednesday, March 22nd- Monday, April 24th (last day of class) @ 5pm
If you are a current undergraduate in a College of Fine Arts degree major, you may submit request to drop a class from your schedule via a One-Time Exception (OTE). This gives the student the ability to drop a course through the last class day. As the name implies, this can only be done once at UT Austin. If you would like to submit a One-Time Exception request, please email cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu to initiate that process.
Prior to the mid-semester deadline, students should utilize the Q-drop form below.
Withdrawal (dropping to zero hours)
Deadline: Tuesday, March 21st @ 5pm
Prior to the mid-semester deadline, students may withdraw for any reason by e-mailing cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu. It is not necessary to include any additional information in your request to withdraw from the university. Students seeking withdrawal are encouraged to speak with their advisors, One Stop, and University Housing (if applicable) prior to making the withdrawal request.
Medical Withdrawals (dropping to zero hours)
From Wednesday, March 22nd- Monday, April 24th (last day of class) @ 5pm
After the mid-semester deadline, the only way to withdraw is to either utilize an OTE withdrawal or to process a medical withdrawal through UHS. To use an OTE withdrawal, please email cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu to initiate that process.
To apply for a medical withdrawal, please visit University Health Services website for information.
Pass/Fail Grading Status Change
Deadline: Tuesday, March 21st @ 5pm
Please email cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu with your EID, the course number, and the unique number for the course you’d like to change to pass/fail status. Please note: changing a class to pass/fail status typically means it will not apply to your degree requirements, unless the course specifically is listed in the course schedule as pass/fail only.
Q-Drops
Deadline: Tuesday, March 21st @ 5pm
If you are a current undergraduate in a College of Fine Arts degree major, please fill out this Qualtrics form to request a Q-drop. Students are allowed six Q-drops while at UT Austin. This request is non-reversible once submitted.
Late Adding Coursework
After the 4th class day of a session, students must appeal to late add courses for the Spring 2023 semester. Course adds will only be considered in extraordinary circumstances. If you forgot to register for a class you are attending, or need to late add a class, please contact our office via cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu. Instructor approval of the course you’d like to add will be required.
