Meet the Team

Carol Alter, MD

Dr. Carol Alter, is the Executive Associate Chair, and  Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas-Austin, Dell Medical School as well as serving as a Senior Fellow at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. She has over 30 years experience as a consult-liaison psychiatrist and expertise in integration of behavioral and physical healthcare and value based care delivery  She has been engaged in research regarding these topics, has helped to implement a number of Collaborative Care  programs across both public and private settings and has been an advocate for policy reforms aimed at insuring reimbursement and access to integrated and collaborative care. 

Deborah Cohen, Ph. D., MSW

Deborah Cohen, Ph.D., MSW, is a mental health services researcher and policy expert. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School and a research assistant professor in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health. 

Cohen’s research focuses on reforming the mental health continuum of care to ensure individuals are able to access care the “first time, at the right place.” Cohen is an expert implementation scientist who has successfully implement integrated and multidisciplinary models in a number of medical and non-medical settings.  

Jacqueline Posada, MD

Dr. Jacqueline Posada, a CL-trained psychiatrist and assistant professor at the University of Texas Dell Medical School, is dedicated to enhancing collaboration between psychiatry and other medical fields for broader access to mental health services. Her clinical work involves caring for individuals with both medical and psychiatric conditions in hospital and outpatient settings. With expertise in implementing the collaborative care model (CoCM), she has contributed to projects with ARPA, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, and Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. Additionally, she is a key member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Committee on Practice Guidelines, focusing on evidence-based recommendations for psychiatric disorder assessment and treatment. Through her role at the Center for Behavioral Health Collaborative Care, she aids clinical partners in establishing their own CoCM programs to enhance behavioral health care delivery.

Cory Morris, MSW

Morris holds a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin. Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Work at Tulane University, Morris has two adjunct appointments at UT Austin and Fordham University. As the assistant director of community integration strategy for Dell Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, she focuses on enhancing youth and young adult mental health. Morris guides community integration strategy for mental health initiatives, managing policy and partnership initiatives at the Center for Youth Mental Health. With a background in programming, policy, and trauma-centered modalities, she aims to establish a more effective and accessible public mental health system. Morris also spearheads community development efforts, emphasizing youth and family voice, cultural responsiveness, and measurement-based care within health systems.

Chris Demetriades, MD

Chris Demetriades is a resident physician in the UT Austin Dell Medical School Psychiatry Residency program. He returns to UT after completing his MD at Baylor College of Medicine and his undergraduate studies in UT’s McCombs School of Business. During medical school, he completed a 1-year consulting fellowship at McKinsey & Company, where he worked with large public and private healthcare stakeholders as they navigated the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is passionate about improving access to mental healthcare for all, and his research focuses on applications of AI and machine learning in mental health risk stratification, mental health diagnostics, and the prediction of mental health outcomes. 

Thessy Rossainz

Thessy Rossainz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Texas A&M University. As Clinical Integrations and Operations Executive Assistant, her role centers on providing administrative and project management support for the Center. Her work is focused on helping support increased access to behavioral health care.
