Broadly, my research explores the intersection of family, work, and gender. My latest research examines the effect of helicopter parenting on youth outcomes and the protective influence of parents, peers, and school on youth suicide. I received a NICHD grant to investigate the affect of parental conflict and divorce on adult children relationship success and satisfaction. My earlier research explored perceptions of fairness in the division of labor among married couples, using the NSFH and interview data from married couples. I have also completed research on youth time use in household, paid, and volunteer work. I teach classes on Family Sociology, Individual & Professional Development, and Urban Families.
