About PeriPAN
Texas PeriPAN offers offers real-time access to a multidisciplinary network of mental health experts — including psychiatrists— for peer-to-peer consults by phone, vetted and personalized referrals and resources, and behavioral health continuing medical education (CME) opportunities. Call the statewide hotline today at 888-901-2726.
The Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN) is a real-time, clinician-to-clinician consultation for the mental health care of expectant and new mothers in Texas.
Maternal mental health conditions are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth. They affect 1 in 5 perinatal women and are the leading underlying cause of pregnancy-related death in the United States. Women who get treatment can and do recover.
PeriPAN’s network of psychiatrists assists providers in addressing maternal mental health conditions by offering:
• Prompt, phone-based clinician-to-clinician consultations.
• Resource-and-referral navigation, diagnostic clarification and medication management.
• Training and education on reproductive mental health.
Why Choose PeriPAN?
PeriPAN addresses Texas’ maternal mental health needs through state-funded services that are free to providers and patients. Despite a shortage of mental health professionals in every Texas county, PeriPAN emphasizes best practices, promoting routine screening during prenatal and postpartum periods. Consulting with PeriPAN may be billable, supporting efficiency and accessibility in providing crucial mental health care for perinatal women.
Learn about real-time consultations that fit into your day:
• “Curbside consultations” on specific patient cases.
• Vetted referrals by patient insurance, location and specialist availability.
• General questions about mental health care, screening, protocols, medications and more.
• Training with other clinicians to build knowledge and capacity in perinatal mental health topics.
Who We Serve
PeriPAN reaches primary care providers across Texas via four regions, which are served by 12 institutional hubs — including Dell Medical School. To reach DMS PeriPAN, dial the hotline number, select 3 for the region and 1 for the institution. Calls are directed based on the provider’s clinic location, not the patient’s location. If a patient lives in an area served by a different hub, the provider should still call the PeriPAN hub in which their clinic is enrolled. Calls made to different hubs will be transferred.
Please note: DMS PeriPAN is part of the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and shares phone/text numbers and email addresses.
