CPAN/PeriPAN 2024 Update: About PeriPAN

About PeriPAN

Texas PeriPAN (888) 901-2726 offers real-time access to a multidisciplinary network of mental health experts—including reproductive psychiatrists—for peer-to-peer consults by phone, vetted and personalized referrals and resources, and behavioral health CMEs.

What is PeriPAN?

The Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN) is a real-time, clinician-to-clinician consultation for the mental health care of expectant and new moms in Texas. In 2019, nearly 50,000 Texas women who gave birth suffered from depression. PeriPAN can help providers address maternal mental health conditions like this.

PeriPAN’s network of psychiatrists assists providers in addressing maternal mental health conditions (MMHC) by offering:

• Prompt, phone-based clinician-to-clinician consultation
• Resource and referral navigation, diagnostic clarification, and medication management
• Training and education on reproductive mental health

Why choose PeriPAN?

Maternal mental health conditions, affecting 1 in 5 perinatal women, are common and a leading cause of pregnancy-related death in the U.S. PeriPAN, operating on state funding, addresses this by offering cost-free mental health services. Despite a shortage of mental health professionals in every Texas county, PeriPAN emphasizes best practices, promoting routine screening during prenatal and postpartum periods. Consulting with PeriPAN may be billable, supporting efficiency and accessibility in providing crucial mental health care for perinatal women.

Who we Serve

We serve PCPs across Texas. There are 4 main regions and Dell Medical School’s CPAN hub can be reached by dialing the hotline number, selecting 3 for the region, and selecting 1 for the institution. Calls are directed based on the PCPs clinic location, not the patient’s. If a patient lives in a different area, the PCP should still call the PeriPAN hub that they enrolled with for their clinic’s area. Calls made to different hubs will be transferred.

Additional Opportunities
