CPAN/PeriPAN 2024 Update: CPAN Direct

CPAN Direct

What is CPAN Direct?

CPAN now offers free, one-time consultations with a CPAN Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.

By tapping into the expertise of CPAN psychiatrists, healthcare providers can receive valuable guidance and insights, enabling them to comprehensively assess and better understand complex cases, thus refining and optimizing their treatment plans for children and adolescents.

Requirements to use CPAN Direct

  • The child is not experiencing a mental health emergency (threatening harm to self or others).

  • The child’s parent or guardian gives written consent and agrees to be present during the 1:1 consultation.

  • The pediatric health clinician expects to remain the primary mental health provider.

How to access CPAN Direct

Call Dell Medical School CPAN at 888-901-2726 (option 3, then option 1).

Request to speak with a CPAN psychiatrist.

Receive a call back from a CPAN psychiatrist within 30 minutes.

During this consultation, the CPAN psychiatrist will determine if the patient is a good fit for a CPAN Direct consultation. If a direct consultation is needed, the psychiatrist will request contact information to schedule the consultation with the family.

Once the evaluation has been completed by a child and adolescent psychiatrist, CPAN will schedule a follow-up consultation call with you to review the recommendations.

These direct consultations are evaluations meant to help with diagnostic clarification and recommendations to incorporate into your care.

After this one-time consultation, the patient is expected to continue mental health care with their pediatric provider. If a psychiatric provider is recommended, CPAN will provide referrals.

If you experience any problems, please let us know right away by phone or email: cpan.direct@ascension.org. Your feedback will be crucial as we continue to refine and streamline our processes.

Call now for free access to real-time consultations, personalized referrals, and valuable resources. No call is too small!
