What is TCHATT?

Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine, or TCHATT, is a free telemedicine program for Texas school children. Funded by Texas Legislature, TCHATT provides assessment, diagnosis, and brief intervention for students experiencing mental health.

What we Offer

• An intake plus up to 4 sessions for assessment, brief intervention, and stabilization for children. 

• Care coordination assistance with referrals to community mental health services. 

• Consultation for school personnel on mental health response protocols, screening tools, and programming. 

•Mental health education & training for school personnel. 

How to Refer to a Child to TCHATT

1. Identify a patient experiencing mental health concerns.

2. Determine if the patients school campus has TCHATT services available.

3. Direct the parent or guardian to contact the school counselor, who will be the liaison for TCHATT. 

What to Do if TCHATT Calls You

Consult with a TCHATT psychiatrist or psychologist on medication or behaviour management. 

Call the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) Hotline at 1-888-901-CPAN to consult with a CPAN psychiatrist on on-going care or to receive community mental health referrals for your patient.
