Dr. Dopheide is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She received her PharmD from the University of Nebraska in 1988 and completed a residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice at the University of Southern California in 1989.  Dr. Dopheide is a board certified psychiatric pharmacist who provides clinical service for adults and children with psychiatric illness at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.  She has been an active quarterly contributor to Los Angeles County’s Pediatric Psychotropic Guidelines since 2002.  These guidelines are utilized throughout California.  She is USC’s PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy residency program director and supervises the resident in the provision of comprehensive medication management at the Center for Community Health (CCH) located in downtown Los Angeles.  Dr. Dopheide is actively involved in teaching pharmacy students, medical students, allied health, and psychiatry residents in both the classroom and clinical settings.  She most recently received the “Preceptor of the Year” award from USC’s PharmD class of 2015 and received a Teaching Appreciation Award from psychiatry residents in 2014.  In 2016, Dr. Dopheide was appointed to the BPS Specialty Council in Psychiatry.
Dr. Dopheide has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, textbooks, and educational publications.  She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in psychiatric pharmacy, particularly child and adolescent psychopharmacology. Dr. Dopheide has been invited to serve as a Healthcare Manpower Development Expert for the Ministry of Health in Singapore in 2008, 2013 and 2016.  She has served as faculty for Tokyo College of Life Sciences in 1999.  Dr. Dopheide is a recent president (2013-2014) of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and has served on multiple committees including the Residency and New Practitioner Committee, Recertification committee, and NAMI’s relationship management group.  Dr. Dopheide is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and is also active in the American Pharmacists Association, and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
