Kasey Leggette Peña, PharmD is a clinical psychiatric pharmacist at the Austin State Hospital (ASH). As a clinical pharmacist, Dr. Peña serves as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and teaches a weekly medication education class. She provides direct care to adult patients suffering from a variety of psychiatric disease states and the specialty forensic population. She also completes formal psychopharmacology consults as requested by ASH physicians. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Peña also works in the ASH pharmacy, precepts residents and pharmacy student interns on clinical psychiatry rotations, and serves as a member of the ASH Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr. Peña earned her doctor of pharmacy degree at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2012. She then completed an ASHP Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, Texas in 2013 before going on to complete an ASHP Accredited PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Psychiatric Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin/Seton Healthcare Network in 2014. Prior to her current position at ASH, Dr. Peña practiced clinical pharmacy at CommUnityCare Health Centers in Austin, Texas.
