Presentation: USP 800 and the Impending Requirements for Handling Dangerous Psychotropic Agents
Bio: Dr. Richards received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy. She completed a residency in psychopharmacy practice at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis. She has been a Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist since 1996. She is active in several professional organizations and has served on the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties – Specialty Council for Psychiatric Pharmacy and on the Executive Committee for the Clinical Section of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). In 2001, Dr. Richards led the team that received the ASHP Best Practice Award for “Improvement in the Medication Use Process at San Antonio State Hospital.” She represented ASHP on The Joint Commission Behavioral Health Care Professional and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) from 2008 through 2013. She is a Founding Member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP). She served as President of CPNP 2009-2010 and served on the CPNP Board as a member-at-large 2006-2008. CPNP awarded her the Judith J. Saklad Memorial Award in 2008. Dr. Richards served on the CPNP Foundation Board from 2010 through 2015. Dr. Richards is currently the Pharmacy Director at the San Antonio State Hospital and serves as the Pharmacy Service Director for the Hospital Section of the Texas Department of State Health Services.
