Deadline for Applications: February 15, 2016
U.S. citizens who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree and intend to pursue graduate studies, M.A. students, and Ph.D. candidates are eligible to receive Title VIII Fellowship support for participation in American Councils intensive language programs in Russia, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Balkans, Moldova, and Ukraine.
Title VIII Fellowships are available for the following programs:
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, RLASP remains one of the most respected overseas Russian immersion programs available to students today. Offering summer, semester or academic year programs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir, and Almaty, RLASP is designed to improve participants’ oral, listening, reading, and writing proficiency in Russian, and to develop their knowledge of Russian history, politics, culture, and society. Participants may receive credit in history, political science, and area studies as well as Russian language for coursework completed on the program.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP) offers highly individualized, intensive instruction in more than 15 Eurasian languages. Participants may choose summer, semester or nine-month overseas immersion programs in such languages as Armenian, Azeri, Chechen, Dari, Farsi, Georgian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Pashto, Romanian, Tatar, Tajiki, Ukrainian, and Uzbek.
Available for the summer, semester, or academic year, the Balkan Language Initiative provides intensive, highly-individualized instruction in Albanian, Bosnian, Macedonian, and Serbian. Through homestays, conversation partners, in-class instruction, and a wide range of extracurricular activities, participants enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in daily local life in a region largely unserved by study abroad programs.
The application deadline is February 15th for summer programs, and March 15th for fall and academic year programs. Please visit http://www.acstudyabroad.org/title-viii/ for more information or contact us via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
