The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center and the Slavic Reference Service at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are pleased to announce a Call for Applications to its Spring 2021 Virtual Open Research Laboratory (VORL) Program. The program will take place January 25 – May 5, 2021. Funded in part by the U.S. Department of State’s Title VIII Program, the VORL Program provides research stipends and long-distance library support for specialists conducting research on all aspects of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies.

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (http://gsll.unc.edu/) is seeking to fill appointments for two superior and innovative instructors to teach Russian language courses coordinated by the Russian Flagship Program Director.

These will be one-year non-tenure-track positions (Teaching Assistant Professors) with option to renew, to begin on July 1, 2021. The successful candidates will each carry a full-time, 3/3 teaching load; duties will involve teaching and university service.

Master of Arts (or foreign equivalent) in Slavic languages and literatures or closely related field, required by July 1, 2021. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English required.

The University of Pittsburgh is offering a postdoctoral fellowship in the arts and humanities to begin in August 2021 for scholars whose work focuses on Russia, Eastern Europe, or Central Asia. This fellowship is a non-renewable appointment that ends in July 2022. The Fellow will be expected to pursue their own scholarly work and participate in the academic and intellectual activities of the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) and the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES), as well as the department with which they become affiliated.

The UCIS Postdoctoral Fellow will teach two courses during their appointment. The specific courses to be taught will be determined according to the fellow’s interests, the needs of their department, and REEES priorities. Fellows will additionally support REEES’s annual graduate and undergraduate student conferences and other Center outreach activities.

This position provides an annual stipend of $47,476 plus benefits. Additional support for up to $3,000 can be made available to support research and conference attendance.

The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies (DSES) in collaboration with the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the position of tenured associate or full professor. The anticipated start date is fall semester 2021, and the position is contingent upon budget availability.  We seek applications from scholars whose research focuses on the Poland or the non-Russian peoples and cultures of the former Soviet republics, though transnational research might also include Russians. Our preference is for a research specialization in Cultural (including literary) Studies or History, though interdisciplinary work that crosses into these fields will be considered. All candidates must have an outstanding and active research and publication record consistent with achievement at the intended rank at a leading research university.  Teaching duties will include a two course per semester load. The selected candidate will be expected to exhibit an interest in and commitment to departmental and center administration and service and be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as direct independent research. Candidates who are currently or will potentially make outstanding contributions to diversity in their scholarly fields and/or institutions of higher education, or have experience mentoring a diverse student body, are especially encouraged to apply.
