Internship: Summer Online Research Internship and Submissions Open for Student Journal (SRAS)

Internship Deadline: May 20, 2021
Journal Submission Deadline: August 31, 2021

The SRAS Summer Online Research Internship is a highly flexible program that builds student resumes with publishing experience! Students who complete the program also earn $200 towards a SRAS study abroad program OR $75 that can be spent on SRAS online courses. Writing topics are highly varied and tailored, in part, to student interests. The application deadline is May 20th. More information can be found at https://sras.org/internship.

Vestnik, the student journal started and supported by SRAS, is also currently accepting submissions. Student writing on any subject and time period related to Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, Central Asia, and the Caucuses is accepted. Student writing involving primary source research is particularly encouraged. More information can be found at https://geohistory.today/vestnik

CFP: Student Essay Prize Competition (Midwest Slavic Association)

The Midwest Slavic Association is now accepting submissions for the 2021 Midwest Slavic Association Student Essay Prize Competition. The deadline is May 14, 2021. Eligible undergraduate and graduate students can submit a paper on any topic related to Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies to the Midwest Slavic Association for consideration. See below for eligibility details and guidelines on submissions. The best undergraduate paper will win a one-year membership to the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES), and the graduate winner will receive a one-year membership to ASEEES, as well as being considered then for the ASEEES Graduate Student Essay Prize at the national level. This competition is made possible through the support of ASEEES.

CFP: Undergrad Journal of Slavic and East/Central European Studies

The UC Undergraduate Journal of Slavic and East/Central European Studies is one of the few publications for undergraduate students focusing on Slavic and East/Central European topics. Undergraduate students working in any relevant discipline are invited to submit their papers for consideration to the journal.  All papers will be subject to peer review.

Nominations Open- Prizes for Scholarly Works (BASEES)

Nominations are now open for the BASEES Women’s Forum Prizes. Nominations for the book and article/chapter prizes should be submitted by 1st July 2021. Please do submit your eligible publications for consideration!

The Forum will offer three prize awards this coming year, for scholarly works of high quality either produced by a woman or which furthers knowledge about gender and diversity relevant to the East European, Russian and Eurasian region, in the following categories:

NeMLA invites you to submit session proposals about Slavic Studies for next year’s Northeast Modern Language Association conference (NeMLA ’22 – Baltimore | March 10-13).

Russian Film Symposium

On three upcoming sets of Friday/Saturdays—30 April-1 May; then 7-8 May; then 14-15 May—between the hours of 11.00-1.30, the University of Pittsburgh Russian Film Symposium offers three platforms: New Documentary, New Horror, and New Animation
