Job: Native Slovenian Speaker Wanted

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and manage glossaries, style guides, and other linguistic and cultural assets. As our language POC, you will provide feedback to a wide variety of teams to establish localization quality requirements and connect with the Lab Operations team and LPMs when those requirements are not met.
  • Qualify a variety of products and services through both manual and automated UI testing.
  • With the added support of internal and external vendors, ensure the best quality output for customers across all deliverables for your specific language.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones to identify the best localization strategies around new and current brands.
  • Drive linguistic bugs resolution and communicate localizability, functional, and layout issues promptly to the project LPMs. Beyond reporting on issues found, provide pertinent information and follow solutions to their conclusion.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on product and UX design, and flag potential cultural sensitivity issues.
  • Look for opportunities to optimize workflow, tools, and processes to help the team scale.
  • Implement and foster globalization/internationalization/ localization best practices.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees, manages, and provides overall direction for all administrative aspects necessary for the success of the Russian Flagship Program.
  • Provides administrative assistance as needed, shares tutor-lists and student-lists with the IU Language Workshop.
  • Serves as point of contact for administrative issues with Indiana University units (IUTS, CeLT, Global Living and Learning Community, Overseas Study, etc.), federal and other funders, and other external agencies.
  • Facilitates activities with other Flagship programs. Directly supervises support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the Program.
  • Takes lead role in writing and revising position descriptions, and serves on all program search committees.
  • Trains new staff and monitors performance.
  • Formulates program objectives and creates policies to meet them.
  • Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units (REEI, LW, CeLT, Global Living and Learning Community, etc.).

Fully-Funded PhD position in Russian Linguistics (UiT The Arctic University of Norway)

A PhD position is available at the Department of Language and CultureFaculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education in Russian linguistics. The successful candidate will be joining CLEAR (Cognitive Linguistics: Empirical Approaches to Russian); a research group at UiT that pursues empirical research in the framework of cognitive linguistics with the aim of building electronic resources that support research-based student-centered language pedagogy. The CLEAR group at UiT (together with partners at HSE University in Moscow) has developed the largest digital resource of constructions for any language of the world, namely the Russian Constructicon, with over 2200 constructions. Our Russian Constructicon resource has numerous features that will prove especially valuable in the research that this PhD candidate will pursue.

The Russia Program at the George Washington University hosts The Global Academy initiative, an initiative launched by a DC-based consortium of three universities (GW, Georgetown, and American University). The Global Academy delivers short-term non-residential fellowships to Russian scholars in emigration, provides support for conference travel, and assists in editing and publishing scholarly work.
