Summer Online Research Internships (SRAS)

Deadline: May 26, 2025

SRAS is accepting applications for our Summer Online Research Internships.

Internships are open to anyone with strong writing skills and an interest in the Baltics, Eastern/Central Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia. Persons with heritage from these areas or with recent travel experience to these areas are especially welcome to apply for these positions. Eligible applicants include high school students, university students, young professionals, and anyone else who would like build their resume with published material.

Interns will research and write about popular culture, folk culture, art, contemporary literature, or food. Internships are flexible and SRAS editors will work with interns to assign tasks that are both of interest to the intern and fill the needs of the SRAS Family of Sites.

Those that complete the internship will receive a scholarship towards study abroad or study online with SRAS.

Acad. Job: Visiting Lecturer in REE Studies (Rutgers)

The Department of Germanic, Russian, and East European Languages and Literatures at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick, NJ) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track one-year position as a Visiting Lecturer in the Russian and East European Program, effective September 1, 2025. We seek a vibrant instructor to teach all levels of Russian language (first through fourth year), as well as the ability to teach one undergraduate course in English in their area of specialization (some experience with 19th-c. Russian literature preferred). Teaching load is 3:3. The appointed Lecturer is expected to assist with Spring 2026 placement and proficiency testing, participate in the life of the program, help organize student events, and advise students.

CFP: AATSEEL 2026 Conference

The General Call for Proposals, Call for Panel Stream Topics and Application for Research Lab Participants for the AATSEEL 2026 conference, which will be held in-person in New Orleans, LA on February 19-22, 2026, are now open and currently accepting submissions.

The AATSEEL annual meeting is a forum for scholarly exchange of ideas in all areas of Slavic and East/Central European languages, literatures, linguistics, cultures, and pedagogy. The Program Committee invites scholars in these and related areas to form panels around specific topics, organize roundtable discussions, propose forums on instructional materials, and/or submit proposals for individual presentations for the 2025 conference. The conference regularly includes panels in linguistics, pedagogy, second language acquisition, literatures, and cultures relevant to the organization’s regions of focus.

Study Abroad: Russian Language Semester Program, Armenia (ASPIRANTUM)

Armenian School of Languages and Cultures – ASPIRANTUM is organizing a 12-16-week Russian language semester program in Yerevan, Armenia. The 12-16-week semester program of Russian language will start on August 17, 2025, and will last till Dec 5, 2025 (16 weeks, 111 days, 320 hours of Russian language instruction). If you prefer a shorter program, there are options for 12, 13, 14, or 15 weeks.

The 82-111-day Russian language semester program in 2025 is designed to help participants master written and oral modern Russian, interpret Russian texts from various periods, and enhance their knowledge of colloquial Russian, Russian culture, linguistics, and religions of the region. Additionally, the program will provide an opportunity to learn more about Armenia.
