Are you a TA who is leading a discussion section for the first time who wanted to take GRS 097: Fundamentals for Teaching Assistants, but you weren’t able to apply/register because of a conflict?
Would you be interested in another professional development opportunity that doesn’t require much of your time but will help improve your teaching?
CTL would like to offer the opportunity for a mid-semester feedback evaluation to TAs in the College of Liberal Arts who are leading discussion sections for the first time. You simply need to reserve about 10 minutes of class time in early October for us to come to your class and have your students complete a questionnaire about your teaching effectiveness. We will then process your students’ feedback and create a summary for you that can help you target areas of success and areas for improvement. The only thing that we ask is that you fill out a survey at the beginning and end of the semester that asks some questions about your teaching practices and beliefs. The survey also gives you an opportunity to share your thoughts about how graduate students can best be supported to prepare for teaching, which helps us refine our efforts to support graduate student development. As a thank you for taking the time to fill out the surveys, we will send you a $25 Starbucks gift card once you have submitted the final survey.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. We will accommodate as many requests as we can.
