DOCS

Developing Outstanding Clinical Skills (DOCS) is a 4-year longitudinal course designed to support each student’s growth as a physician who will excels in the art and science of medicine delivered in a patient-centered and socially-sensitive manner. Each DMS class will be divided into groups of 5 students, each with the same faculty mentor throughout the 4 years. During the first year, each DOCS group will meet weekly for 2 hours.

In the first year of the DOCS curriculum, the Foundations year, students will acquire the core knowledge and skills essential to establish a patient-physician relationship, such as obtaining a history and performing a physical exam under varying conditions. Activities will include small group discussions, practice sessions using role-plays and simulations, standardized patient exercises, and real patient encounters.

The DOCS and OSCE Self-Assessment forms can be found on the Self-Assessment Form page.
