LASER CUTTING

The Universal PLS 6.150D laser cutter can etch into the surface of and cut through certain materials.  The laser cutter can accommodate materials up to 32 inches by 18 inches.  Etched materials can be up to 7 inches thick, while cutting is usually limited to materials with thicknesses of .25″ or less. Laser cutter use is first come, first served during lab hours.

Our newly acquired Full Spectrum Pro Series 48 x 36 laser cutter from engineering has passthrough doors; therefore, the work area can be larger than its 48 inch by 36 inch bed. Unlike our Universal laser cutter, the software, RetinaEngrave v3.0, is self-contained within the laser cutter itself and requires the use of an internet browser (Google Chrome). The file import options are JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, SVG, DXF, DWG.

Laser Cutter  training / assistance can be provided by any of our Lab Proctors
