UT Drupal Kit

UT Drupal Kit 2.25 release

ITS is happy to announce the immediate availability of UT Drupal Kit 2.25.0, the latest maintenance release for our University distribution of the Drupal web content management system. This release includes an update to Drupal core, and several accessibility-related changes to the Forty Acres theme and custom content components. There are no contrib module updates in this release.

The 2.25 release incorporates the most recent release of Drupal Core, bringing it up to the latest version (7.73).

This release incorporates a number of changes to improve the accessibility of Drupal Kit sites, particularly for users navigating sites by keyboard or screenreader software:

  • Improved keyboard navigation of the mobile main menu
  • Added underline styling to links in blocks of text
  • Removed links around images in the Promo Unit, Promo List, and Featured Highlight components , to reduce redundant link descriptions for screenreader users
  • Added aria-hidden="true" attribute to call-to-action links in the Flex Content Area, Promo Unit, and Featured Highlight components, to reduce redundant link descriptions for screenreader users
  • Changed the Image Link component to use the image’s “title” attribute as the image alt text source, instead of the alt text stored for that image in the site’s media library, to ensure that users can manipulate the alt text to accurately describe the link destination rather than the image itself

Complete instructions and download links for updating a UT Drupal Kit site are available on the documentation wiki. Pantheon site dashboards that use the UT Drupal Kit distribution should see the upstream updates available now; see the Pantheon documentation for more information on applying upstream updates.

Please review the changelog thoroughly, and always make backups of your code, files, and database before proceeding with an update!

The 2.x (Drupal 7) branch of the UT Drupal Kit is updated on a bi-monthly maintenance release schedule, with releases targeted for the second Tuesday of even-numbered months. The next planned release is UT Drupal Kit 7.x-2.26, due on December 8, 2020. Please see 2020 Release Schedule for UT Drupal Kit for more details.
