UT Drupal Kit 2.29 Release

ITS is happy to announce the immediate availability of UT Drupal Kit 2.29.0, the latest maintenance release for our University distribution of the Drupal web content management system. This release includes an update to Drupal core, an update to the Metatag contrib module, and a bugfix for a minor styling issue for “Call to Action” buttons.

Drupal Core update

The 2.29 release incorporates the most recent release of Drupal Core, bringing it from 7.80 up to the latest version (7.81).

Metatag module update

In recent weeks, a number of UT Drupal Kit customers have been required by Facebook to verify domain ownership on their sites in order to continue using various Facebook integrations or services. The easiest method for verifying domain ownership is to add a specific metatag to the site’s HTML source which displays a unique code provided by Facebook.

The Metatag module recently added the capability to configure this metatag through the Drupal admin UI as part of the “Metatag Verification” submodule. This Drupal Kit release includes an update to a recent “dev” release of the Metatag module in order to provide this capability to any sites which need it.

Styling bugfix for CTA buttons

UT Drupal Kit customers commonly add the cta class to an <a> element in HTML in order to generate a “Call to Action” button. A customer recently discovered that doing this in the “Copy” area of a Promo List component would result in orange text on an orange background. This release includes a small CSS update to prevent the cta styling from being overridden in the context of a Promo Unit.

How to update the UT Drupal Kit

Complete instructions and download links for updating a UT Drupal Kit site are available on the documentation wiki. Pantheon site dashboards that use the UT Drupal Kit distribution should see the upstream updates available now; see the Pantheon documentation for more information on applying upstream updates.

Please review the changelog thoroughly, and always make backups of your code, files, and database before proceeding with an update!
