Zhang joined the department as an assistant professor in Fall 2014. He received his doctorate from the Department of Molecular Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery at The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied the hot-melt extrusion in controlled release dosage forms. After his graduate studies, he worked as formulation and process development scientists in pharmaceutical industry for 14 years prior to joining the department as an assistant professor in 2014.
