Russendisko (2012), is based on Wladimir Kaminer’s bestselling short story collection of the same name. Set in the early 1990s, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film follows three young Russian friends: Wladimir, Mischa, and Andrej, who emigrate from Moscow to Berlin in search of freedom, adventure, and a better future. Arriving with little more than their optimism, they settle in the chaotic and vibrant atmosphere of reunified Berlin, where East meets West and everything seems possible. The trio faces the challenges of adapting to a new culture, struggling with language barriers, love affairs, and the uncertain prospects of immigrant life.
