September 21, 2025, Filed Under: Museum WalksMuseum Walks Every other week, students meet at the Blanton Museum of Art for Spaziergang im Museum, a guided walk and conversation in German. This event invites learners of all levels to explore visual art while practicing German in a relaxed museum setting. Together, we learn how to observe and describe artworks in detail, discovering a range of media, from sculpture and paintings to drawings and prints, and distinguishing between artistic genres (Kunstgattungen). Terms such as Landschaftsmalerei, Stillleben, Historienmalerei, and Porträt become part of our shared vocabulary as we engage with the museum’s diverse collection. The Blanton’s rich collection offers a stimulating environment for language learning, cultural exchange, and creative interpretation. The museum is free to all UT students and offers free admission to the public every Tuesday. The insights and reflections shared by students during our walks are always inspiring and enriching, making each visit a unique and memorable experience.
