Current graduate students:
- Shaohui Liu (Fall 2019 – present): Shaohui received B.Sc. in applied mathematics with honor from Sichuan University in 2017. Before joining UT, Shaohui spent 2 years as a PhD student in Stony Brook University and got his master’s degree in Computational Applied Math. Shaohui did 3 internships with Los Alamos National Lab, Argonne National Lab, and Amazon AWS during the past summers. His current research topics include mathematical modeling, optimization, and learning for electric power grids and general networked systems.
- Kyung-bin Kwon (Fall 2019 – present): Kyung-bin received the B.S. and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Republic of Korea in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree with the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include reinforcement learning applied to real-time control problems in power systems.
- Shanny Lin (Fall 2018 – present): Shanny received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA in 2018, and the M.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 where she is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree. Her research interests include physics-aware and risk-aware machine learning for power distribution system operations.
- Yuqi Zhou (Fall 2018 – present): Yuqi received B.E. degree in information engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2015 and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University in 2018. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include control and optimization in high-voltage transmission systems, and power system operations under uncertainty. Pablo received the B.S. degree in electromechanical engineering from Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno, Bolivia, in 2008, and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2018, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering. From September 2021 to present is a visiting research scholar at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include machine learning applied to smart grids, renewable energy and voltage stability.
