The Committee sponsors meetings at the triennial ICLA congress and meets annually at ACLA. These meetings comprise multi-day seminars where scholars share research presentations on a select theme as well as business meetings to plan future research initiatives, publication opportunities and professional interventions.
Recent themes have included “Intersectional Crip Theory: (Re)presenting Intersections of Illness, Disability, and Madness with Gender and Sexuality,” “Queer Contemporaneities: Anachronism and Gender,” and “(Re)mapping Gender.” The planned theme for the 2026 ACLA meeting will be “Precarious Mediations: Queer Bodies in Virtual Spaces.”
