·         Award Period: Funding can be applied to programs between fall 2013 and summer 2015

·         Award Amounts: $2000 – $3000 per student

Event for UT Honors Students, plus book giveaway

On Thursday, October 18th, at 7 p.m., former U.S. Congressman Mickey Edwards will visit the Joynes Reading Room to discuss the current election and his new book, entitled The Parties Versus The People: How to Turn Republicans and Democrats into Americans. Edwards represented Oklahoma’s 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives for 16 years, and served on the Budget and Appropriations Committees. He is now director of the Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan think tank. He has taught graduate courses on politics and government at Harvard, Princeton, and George Washington University. A limited number of copies of The Parties Versus The People are available for free to honors students who commit to attend his talk in the Joynes Room on the 18th. To claim a free copy of the book, inquire in person at the front desk of the Joynes Reading Room (CRD 007).
