John Taggart will read in the Joynes Room Monday night, October 29th, at 7 p.m., in an event free event open to the public. Taggart is the author of fourteen books of poetry and two books of criticism. His work is influenced by medieval and modern musical traditions and by visual art. He recently completed “The Rothko Chapel Poem,” which is described in this New York Times article. A limited number of free books are available to honors students — inquire at the front desk in the Joynes Room (CRD 007).
Elva Trevino Hart wrote the acclaimed memoir Barefoot Hart, about her childhood in a migrant farming family. She has also published a collection of short stories, Simpaticas: San Miguel Stories. Hart will give a public reading in the Joynes Room on Thursday, November 8th, at 7 p.m. A small number of free books are available to honors students — inquire at the front desk in the Joynes Room (CRD 007).
