Texas Exes Scholarships Due March 1

Who can apply? All full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin. Students transferring to the University are eligible for only select scholarships.

When?  Students must apply by March 1. Scholarships are for the following academic year. Recipients are chosen by the Texas Exes scholarship selection committees each spring. Only students receiving scholarships will be notified.

How to apply?

Students should apply online at www.utexas.edu/student/finaid by March 1. To apply for our scholarships, select “Texas Exes Scholarships” under Scholarship Choices.

To apply for specific scholarships, you must type the scholarship code on the application in the Other Scholarships section. For a complete listing of all the scholarships we administer, go to http://scholarships.texasexes.org/named-scholarships-for-current-students/

How much?  Most scholarships are based on earnings from investment of the endowed funds, so amounts vary from year to year. Awards range from $500 to $8,000, with most scholarships falling within the $1,000 – $2,000 range.

Supreme Court Internship Program

This is a great opportunity if you will be in DC for a semester.  Currently, we have one LAHer on the Archer program who is interning with the Supreme Court.  Don’t pass up applying for this greta opportunity.

Judicial Internship Program

For more than 40 years, the Judicial Internship Program in the Office of the Counselor to the Chief Justice has provided advanced undergraduate students and recent college graduates with the opportunity to support and study the non-adjudicative responsibilities of the Chief Justice in his role as head of the Federal Judiciary. Many prior Judicial Interns have become practicing attorneys. Some have become law clerks at the Supreme Court and other federal courts, professors and deans of leading law and business schools, senior staff members in Congress, and attorneys at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Student Leaders Wanted for UT Family Orientation (paid summer job!)

Texas Parents.org is currently accepting applications for Family Orientation Student Leaders (FOSLs). FOSLs assist Texas Parents in welcoming new Longhorn families to our UT Austin community at Family Orientation in the summer. This team serves as the first point of contact for summer orientation participants while gaining leadership experience, creating new friendships and building a professional network.

Undergraduate Research Week

The College of Liberal Arts is now accepting applications for the Undergraduate Research Poster Presentation Session as a part of Undergraduate Research Week, April 14 – 18. Presenters will have their posters professionally printed, courtesy of the College, and present their posters at the Liberal Arts Honors Day reception on Saturday, April 12. Students will also have the chance to request to present their research at the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Research Reception, hosted by Dean Diehl, on Tuesday, April 15.

Students may apply to participate regardless of what stage their research is in.  For more details on these events, or to apply, please visit our website. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 7.

Young Women’s Alliance Foundation Scholarships

Each year the Young Women’s Alliance Foundation awards scholarships to female undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to leadership, scholarship, and service.

Award Amount: $3,000

Dean Performing Arts Series Ticket Lottery Applications Available

Applications for the ticket lottery for Broadway Across America’s Wicked will be accepted until February 19th at 5 pm in the University Honors Center (CRD 23).

Think you know everything about The Wizard of Oz? Think again. Wicked retells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West, including her unlikely friendship with Glinda the Good, and the events that shape who they become. Come with us as we follow classic characters and discover what truly lies in the depths of evil and the heart of good.

Our evening will begin with a special pre-performance talk from award-winning theatrical director and director of University Events, Rod Caspers. After the discussion, we will go together to the performance that starts at 8 pm.

Tickets for this event are normally $54 – $78, but through the sponsorship of The University Honors Center and The L.L. and Ethel E. Dean Endowment your cost is only $10.

To apply for the ticket lottery, please submit your application no later than Wednesday, February 19th at 5pm in person to The University Honors Center (north entrance of Carothers). Applications will be drawn at random on Thursday, February 20th. If your application is chosen, you will be notified by email, and you will need to return to The University Honors Center no later than Friday, February 21st before 5pm to pay your program fee by check or money order.

Latin American Studies Travel Grants

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies is now offering a number of travel scholarships for study abroad in Latin America, both for summer 2014 and for academic year 2014-2015.  For summer 2014, we are offering four $2,500 travel scholarships.  Students must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America this coming summer and return with at least six hours of college credit.  For academic year 2014-2015, we will award six $5,000 travel scholarships for semester-long study abroad.  Awardees must attend degree-granting institutions in Latin America and return with at least 12 hours of college credit.
