Eula Biss campus visit, plus free books for honors students

Essayist Eula Biss, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, will give a public talk in the Joynes Reading Room (CRD 007) on Tuesday, October 4th, at 7 p.m. Saloncalled Biss’s Notes From No Man’s Land “the most accomplished book of essays anyone has written or published so far in the 21st century. It provokes, troubles, charms, and heckles the reader, and it raises more questions than it answers.” Biss has written on race, family, religion and cultural identity. Her latest book, On Immunity: An Inoculation, explores the history of medical science and the pernicious myths that perpetuate anxieties about vaccination. This event is free and open to everyone. Call 512-471-5787 for more information. A limited number of free books by Eula Biss are available to UT honors undergraduates—students interested in free books should enquire in person at the front desk of the Joynes Reading Room.
