Refugee Services of Texas is recruiting for an Advocacy Intern for the summer months of (May 10- September 1st) with Refugee Services of Texas.  Please see the internship description below: 

RST Advocacy and Community Engagement Intern Description

The Advocacy and Community Engagement Intern will

  • Research and keep up to date on proposed bills that would affect RST clients
  • Facilitate communication and engagement with our growing group of advocacy volunteers
  • Send out weekly email updates to volunteers with information on upcoming events, legislative updates, and resources for speaking to legislators and the public about refugee issues
  • Determine next tasks to get volunteers involved in, including which legislators to reach out to
  • Direct and support lead volunteers in their tasks such as setting up legislative visits and ensuring they have appropriate preparation and resources
  • Maintain communication with lead volunteers and all other volunteers on a weekly basis to answer questions, concerns, receive feedback, and determine how to grow RST advocacy
  • Stay in contact with RST administration and RCUSA to gain consensus and direction on advocacy efforts
