LAH Creative Writing Prize

Calling all creative writers! LAH is teaming up with Echo Literary Magazine to offer the first LAH Creative Writing Prize.

Starting on January 1st, Echo will be accepting prose submissions that are no longer than 10 pages double spaced (and not already published in another journal). Submitters must be current undergraduates in LAH. The winner(s) will receive a scholarship of up to $2500 and have their work published in the spring edition of Echo!

Headliners Scholarship

The Headliners Foundation of Texas launched its Showcase Award for Enterprise and Innovation in Journalism in 2013 to provide an opportunity for recognizing journalism from many formats, including online and non-daily publications. The Foundation’s Showcase Award recognizes news stories that have made a significant impact on Texas government or public policy, or the conduct of business or non-profit organizations.

Entries are being accepted for display in the Showcase section of the Headliners Foundation’s website by qualifying news organizations or reporters, editors and other members of the professional media community for stories whose initial publication or broadcast has been since Jan. 1, 2017. The deadline to submit 2017 stories is end-of-day on February 6, 2018.

Submitting a 2017 entry for this award is easy:

  • Just send your contact info and a few details with a link to your story via the submission form at this site: http://headlinersfoundation.org/content-submission
  • There is no entry fee.
  • And, the winning entry receives a $2,000 cash prize; runners up will receive $1,000 each! The winner and any runners-up will be announced in spring 2018.
