Harry Ransom Center Internships (and Optional Mixer)

The Ransom Center supports University of Texas at Austin undergraduates through internships designed to provide experiences in the nature and operation of an internationally recognized humanities research library and museum. We recruit potential interns directly, through departments and partnerships with academic and scholarship programs on campus. Our ideal candidates come from a wide range of experiences, have a desire for learning and mentorship, and a passion for the work done at the Ransom Center.

We support our intern cohort by coordinating monthly professional development meetings which create a space for professional and personal growth. The experience gained by interns will benefit them in their own research projects, in possible graduate studies, and even as a career option in such fields as librarianship, museum studies, archival or curatorial work, as well as public affairs, marketing, public programming and event management.

Funding for our interns are sponsored by the Liberal Arts Honors.

Internships begin the second week of classes and conclude on the last class day each semester. Most interns work in a single department throughout the year, but some may choose to change at semester break.

We encourage applications from rising juniors and seniors, but all undergraduates are eligible to apply. Interns will be appointed as Undergraduate Research Assistants (an hourly position that is not benefits-eligible) 10-hours of work per week. The student must be registered for a minimum of six hours of coursework at The University of Texas.
