Upcoming Texas Exes Scholarship Application Deadline

The Texas Exes scholarship application deadline for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students is March 1 at 11:59 p.m. CST. In order to be considered, students must complete the online Texas Exes scholarship application. The online application is separate from the main Texas Exes website and can be accessed at https://texasexes.academicworks.com/. By completing the application, students will automatically apply for most scholarships for which they qualify—no further action is needed. There are also some additional scholarship opportunities in which students might be qualified to apply, and they should read the descriptions to see if they are eligible and complete any required supplemental questions.

Call for Scholarship Applicants for the ACA Student Award

Are YOU a student who helps other students? Do YOU dream of being better prepared to tutor, advise, or otherwise assist your peers? Are YOU a complete superhero dedicated to helping others CHANGE THE WORLD??

Well, well, well, then WE have the opportunity for YOU!

The Academic Counselors Association (ACA) is proud to offer $300 scholarships to The University of Texas at Austin students who support the vision and values of the academic advising community. It is the hope of ACA that these scholarships will assist students in their academic pursuits and endeavors.

To qualify you must:

  • Be a currently Enrolled UT Austin Students
  • Assist in advising or other academic/student support services
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (to be verified by the ACA Awards & Recognition Committee)
  • Submit a 500 word advising statement & resume (more information on the application link)
  • Submit a recommendation letter from a staff or faculty mentor who is familiar with your work in advising or other student support services.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Tuesday, March 31 at 11:59pm.

College of Liberal Arts Research Week Events

We are now accepting applications for our research poster presentation session that will take place during Research Week on Tuesday, April 21. Students may also apply to showcase their work at the Dean’s Research Reception on Thursday, April 23, where their research will be presented to College directors, chairs, deans, and faculty.

The application can be found on our website. The deadline for students to apply is Friday, March 13.

Join the John Quincy Adams Society at UT!

The John Quincy Adams Society at UT (JQAS@UT) is a new student organization co-founded by several LAH students. They are a chapter of a nationwide organization that serves to promote restraint and realism in American foreign policy and to foster conversations on campus about where American foreign policy should go. The organization also helps to grow and train professionals in areas of American foreign affairs and has national conferences, scholarships, and essay contests available to its members.

Apply Now for ’20-’21 Journalism Scholarships

The deadline is March 27 to apply for more than $70,000 in journalism scholarships for Texas college students

Main criteria:

  • Applicants mus be undergraduate students with a solid academic record
  • Published or broadcast work for student media or as interns for professional media – print, broadcast or digital – that demonstrates a commitment to and talent for reporting and storytelling
  • Some scholarships are based on merit, others on financial need

We offer individual scholarships of up to $6,000 for the academic year – it’s easy to apply online!

2020 Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship

The Friar Society is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship (FCTF)! This fellowship, awarded annually, recognizes a faculty member who has attained distinction in teaching undergraduates and who has made a significant contribution to the university beyond their calling. It is the largest faculty award at the university, totaling $25,000. We invite you to nominate a professor who is deserving of this honor. Semi-finalists for the award are determined solely on the basis of received nominations. Therefore, please be as elaborate and specific as possible.

  • How has this faculty member demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduates and contributed to the University community?

Free Speech Essay Contest – call for submissions

UT’s annual Free Speech Essay Contest is now open! The contest is open exclusively to UT undergraduates, and all UT undergraduate students are eligible to participate.

Prizes for the top three essays range from $700-$1500.

Deadline for submission is March 9, 2020.

The topics this year concern:

  • Transparency versus Privacy (the relationship between mandatory disclosure of personal information and control over information)
  • Speech contrasted with Action

Harry Ransom Center Internships!

HRC Internship Details:

  • This will be a year-long paid position from September 2020 to May 2021.
  • The internships we are offering next year include:
  • The Application period is January 30th to March 30th.
