Leadership Opportunity – University of Texas Student Foundation

The University of Texas Student Foundation is an organization dedicated to educating our peers about the impacts of philanthropy with the goal of cultivating a community and culture of giving on campus. The members of our organization advocate to facilitate charitable campaigns and events to inform students about their power to influence. We are currently looking to fill our executive board! Last year we partnered with The Kendra Scott WEL  Institute and Dell Medical for our philanthropy panels! The Student Foundation has a place for every student! We are open to all undergraduate students from all majors and backgrounds to join our team.

ContribUTe is our university-wide annual giving campaign launched in the month of October which entails encouraging students and alumni to give back to the university and help directly provide their peers in need the resources they need to persevere and be successful academically. We strive to create an impact on our student population by advocating and fundraising for student essential services to reduce housing insecurity, mental healthcare access and food insecurity. Historically, the Student Foundation has fundraised for many designations, including the Counseling and Mental Health Center, UT Outpost and Student Emergency Services through the ContribUTe campaign.

We would really appreciate any help finding passionate and motivated individuals to apply as The Student Foundation is currently recruiting student change makers for the 2022-2023 academic year to make a difference in the lives of our peers. Here is a link to our 2021 ContribUTe campaign, and a graphic with a QR code linking important information is attached.

Education Abroad: Gilman Scholarship for Pell Students

One of the most important aspects of planning for a study abroad experience is understanding the many scholarship and funding resources and opportunities students may take advantage of. The Gilman Scholarship in particular is a program we want to highlight as we have some upcoming events to help students in the application process.

The Gilman Scholarship is a generous federal scholarship for study abroad and a great opportunity for U.S. citizens receiving a Federal Pell Grant to fund their international experience. UT Austin is consistently a top producer of Gilman Scholars.

Education Abroad is hosting 2 virtual information sessions to help students prepare a competitive application. During the information sessions, we will cover scholarship details, selection criteria, and tips for submitting a competitive application. We will also host a writing workshop for essay review.
