This application is for all student worker positions in Liberal Arts Honors and Humanities.
You may apply for multiple positions, especially ones that are open only in the fall or only in the Spring, such as fellows for LAH 102H or 112H in fall, and LAH 103H in Spring.

Admissions Reader
Review applications for incoming LAH Scholars.
Must be available to evaluate applications from October through March, with the bulk of reading over winter-break. $12/hr
Front desk workers (Fall and Spring)
Duties will include welcoming students and visitors, answering phones and emails, and other administrative duties.
Hours TBD, depending on your schedule. You cannot work more than 19 hours on campus in any combination of jobs, so keep this in mind if you have another job on campus.
Administrative experience in other jobs; familiarity with Powerpoint and Excel; and/or experience updating websites and designing brochures.
$12/hr
Preceptor for Lang (Fall and Spring)
Applicants will assist instructor with course prep and management, Canvas updates, student advising on writing assignments and game strategy, coaching student public speaking in and out of class; approx. 10 hours/wk.
Must be available TTh 9:30-11am in the Fall term, or MWF 11a-12p in the Spring.
Preferred experiences (one or more of the following): LAH 102h writing fellow, Writing Center consultant training, took lower and upper division LAH Reacting classes, peer mentorship. $10/hr plus $1000 scholarship
Preceptor for Casey (Fall and Spring)
Applicants will assist instructor with course prep and management, Canvas updates, student advising on writing assignments and game strategy, coaching student public speaking in and out of class; approx. 10 hours/wk.
Must be available MWF 11a-12p in the Fall or TTh 9:30-11am in the Spring.

Preceptor for Mayhew (LAH 351G Reacting to Revolutionary Ideas in Spring)
Applicants will assist instructor with course prep and management, Canvas updates, student advising on writing assignments and game strategy, coaching student public speaking in and out of class; approx. 10 hours/wk.
Must be available MW 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.
Preferred experiences (one or more of the following): LAH 102h writing fellow, Writing Center consultant training, took lower and upper division LAH Reacting classes, peer mentorship, debate experience. $10/hr plus $1000 scholarship
Preceptor for Mayhew (HMN 102T Design a Path in Fall and in Spring)
Applicants will assist instructor with course prep and management, Canvas updates, student advising on writing assignments and game strategy, coaching student public speaking in and out of class; approx. 5 hours/wk.
Must be available MW 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.
Preferred experiences: one or more of the following): taken HMN 102T previously, LAH 102h writing fellow, Writing Center consultant training, taken upper division LAH Reacting class, peer mentorship, debate experience. $10/hr plus $350 scholarship
LAH 102H Writing Fellow (Fall)
Coaching 12 to 15 LAH first year students, helping them to improve their expository writing skills.
Attend the LAH 102H class on Mondays from 4 – 5 pm and for the Writing Fellows meetings after class from 5 – 5:30pm.
Preferred experiences: prize winner for LAH 102H, LAH First Year essay competition, or Pinto Carver essay competition; Writing Center consultant training; or other writing experience/awards. $10/hr plus $1000 scholarship
LAH 103H Grading Fellow (Spring)
Grade various assignments for Envision Austin to give students a score/feedback. During the competition part of the semester, listen to and evaluate all the pitches as we do the elimination rounds.
Must be available Mondays from 4 – 5 pm.
Preferred experiences: LAH 102H or 112H fellow. $10/hr plus $1000 scholarship
LAH 112H Teaching Fellow (Fall)
Coaching 12 to 15 LAH sophomores on designing a research proposal.
Requirements: Attend the LAH 112H class on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 3 pm and for the Fellows meetings immediately after class.
Preferred experiences: research experience either through a methodology or capstone course; participation in a research lab; or LAH 112H or HMN 104. $10/hr plus $1000 scholarship
Social Media Team (Fall and Spring, Summer optional)
Description: Duties include coordinating designing posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as tracking user statistics across these platforms. Social media interns also conduct interviews of LAH scholarship recipients and publish them either in writing or video.
Requirements: Much of this can be done according to your schedule. Weekly meetings will be arranged.
Preferred qualifications: Experience posting on social media, conducting interviews, and making videos or designing graphics. $12/hr
TA for UGS 303 Professionalism in Health Care with Lang (Fall)
Description: Applicants will facilitate student group work in class and be available to answer questions from and organize communication between an assigned cohort of 8-20 first-year pre-health-professions students outside of class. UGTAs will also grade and provide feedback on biweekly short essays using a rubric, organize student inquiry project groups, and support students in tracking and developing incremental writing and inquiry assignments that build on each other throughout the term.
Requirements: Must be available W 4-6pm and Th 11a-12:30p in Fall 2022 and to attend hour-long UGTA organizational meetings once every 1 or 2 weeks at a time TBD. Enrollment in Liberal Arts Honors, Humanities, Jefferson Scholars, or Plan II. Minimum 2nd-yr standing, 1-yr residency, 3.5 GPA (3.7 in Writing Flag classes), and 1 Writing Flag course (including but not limited to LAH 102H, 103H, 305, 350, or upper div RHE/ENG).
Preferred experiences (one or more of the following): peer mentorship; independent research or inquiry-based classes; Writing Center consultant training; interest in the health professions (broadly defined), science, public health policy, and related fields.
