UT Austin Student Training & Internship Program for HCM & IT Consulting Career Paths

UT Austin announces a new training and internship program for students interested in Human Capital Management, Systems and IT consulting. 

This program is designed to train UT-Austin undergraduates in cloud-based HCM, Payroll and Financial Administration systems in support of the University’s implementation of the new Workday enterprise application. During this spring and summer program, students will be trained on Workday technologies and business processes, and complete a full-time internship at UT Austin working on the Workday application configuration, quality assurance, implementation, security and business process adoption.

Program Overview

  • Title: Administrative Systems Modernization Program (ASMP) – Workday Analyst Internship
  • Eligibility: UT Austin undergraduate students with a 2.7 or higher GPA and graduating in 2017 or 2018. Explore the full internship requirements listed at the link above.
  • Pay: $18 per hour
  • Training: Workday@College provides comprehensive human capital management training in online and on-site courses. Training covers organizational structures, staffing, compensation, business processes, security and report writing. Training takes place online April 1-29 and on-site May 16-23.
  • Internship: The UT Austin ASMP Workday Analyst internship portion of this program takes place during the summer, from May 25 – August 12, 2016. This is a full-time internship, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. 
    • Immediately contribute to the implementation of the cloud-based Workday HCM solution on campus
    • Work in a dynamic team environment
    • Gather and analyze business requirements
    • Assist as needed with the design, implementation, testing and optimization of Workday business processes, configuration, reporting, and integrations
    • Advise on options, risks, and any impact on current processes or systems
    • Learn about on-going organizational change management, communication, training to facilitate adoption
    • Be among one of the first college students trained on Workday, a game-changing and in-demand solution
  • Fall Semester & Beyond: Beginning in fall 2016, the internship converts to a 20 hour/week student campus job until graduation.

This program provides intensive systems consulting and cloud-based enterprise application implementation training and project management experience using Workday, the industry leader in finance and human capital management software.

The skills and experience gained in this program are highly sought after in the job market and will make you a competitive candidate for IT and systems consulting opportunities. Consulting firms – such as Deloitte and Accenture – and other Fortune 500 companies and organizations actively recruit and hire individuals to implement Workday applications. Additionally, organizations that have deployed Workday hire individuals to help with ongoing updates and support.

The Roy Crane Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts is given each year to a student of The University of Texas at Austin for unique, creative effort in the performing, literary and visual arts. In 2016, the award(s) will be given in the area of visual arts. An undergraduate or graduate student from any major or area of study may compete for the award. The selection committee will give no weight to any entrant’s grade point average or other academic achievement.

The award is between $1,000 and $4,500.

To compete for the award, a student must be recommended by a faculty member. The recommendation must be for one’s creative effort while a student at UT Austin. Research or analysis does not qualify. No faculty member may nominate more than two students for the award.

Include all work and information in one PDF document.  Use a separate page for each image and then join all pages into a single document. Each image must include the following information:

You may submit no more than 15 images of up to 10 artworks.

The Faculty of Economics Sciences at Higher School of Economics (HSE) is proud to begin receiving applications for semester-long unpaid internships during the Fall 2016. Paid Summer Internship with Texas Parents

Now Accepting Applications: McNair Scholars Program (Due April 10th)

The McNair Scholars program is currently recruiting and accepting new students for the Fall 2016 semester.  Federally funded, the McNair Scholars program provides its participants with in-depth, rigorous preparation for doctoral level graduate work.

All McNair Scholars obtain a faculty mentor, work on an independent research project, have opportunities to travel and present their research, receive free GRE prep (worth $2,000), and are eligible for up to $5,500 for participating.

For Faculty and advisors in particular, if you have noticed students who show promise or interest in doing research, the McNair program could be a perfect way to support them to work with you and to pursue a research career.

The program is open to all majors/disciplines. We are particularly interested in undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing doctoral degrees who are low-income, first-generation, and/or traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.

Please put in writing: “What you think a good Writing Fellow does and what a student needs from a good tutor.” If you have been a Writing Fellow in the past, please give some of your specific examples.

Please turn your application in by Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the LAH office.  Writing Fellows are expected to attend LAH 102H every Monday from 4- 5:15 and attend the Writing Fellow meeting immediately after class  from 5:15 – 6 pm.

Fulbright awards graduating seniors, recent graduates and alumni to travel for academic work in all disciplines, including the sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and the performing and creative arts.  A number of countries also offer grants for those who wish to serve as English teaching assistants.

The Fine Print:

                The 2017-2018 Fulbright U.S. Student competition will open on March 31, 2016.  The Fulbright U.S. Student program is open to graduate students at all levels, undergraduates who will have completed their degree by the beginning of the grant period (for most countries, Sept. 1, 2017) and alumni who hold a bachelor’s degree.  The program is restricted to U.S. citizens.  The grants are for study and research abroad, and are available for most countries.  Grants are awarded for all disciplines, including the sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and the performing and creative arts.  A number of countries also offer grants for those who wish to serve as English teaching assistants.

 

Information sessions and Q & A for prospective applicants will be held Wednesday, March 2 and Friday April 8 in CLA 1.106.

 

Deadlines and Procedures:

 

1.  The applicant should go to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program website

(http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html) for country summaries, information about preparing an application, and, starting March 31, to begin the online application process.

 

2.  The applicant should also review our campus website:

3. Potential applicants should register with us by beginning an application in the Embark Application System.

 

4.  Campus Deadline: The applicant must submit a preliminary application through the Embark Online Application system by 5 PM on September 8, 2016. Interviews with the Fulbright Campus Committee are tentatively scheduled between September 19 and September 30. 

 

5. National Deadline: Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 4pm Central time.

 

BDP Spring Application Deadline – March 10

If you have students who are considering a Bridging Disciplines Programs (BDP) certificate, this is a reminder that the spring BDP application deadline is Thursday, March 10 at midnight. Please feel free to forward this message along to any of your students who might be interested. 

Some students have asked about an extended application deadline. There will be no extensions — March 10 is our final deadline for applications this semester.

Information on applying is available here. Students should attend a BDP information session before applying, if they have not already done so. Information sessions are offered every Tuesday from 11am-12pm and Wednesday from 3-4pm in FAC 4.

For students who are considering the BDP but are not sure yet about applying, please know that we accept applications twice a year — in the spring and in the fall. We will have another application deadline in mid–October.

3 Day Startup Austin (April 8-10)

3 Day Startup is an international non-profit organization that teaches university students how to start a company over the course of a weekend.

3DS Austin is the local program. Over the weekend, students form teams, develop an idea, conduct market research, talk to customers, create a prototype, and pitch to real investors by Sunday night. Students get to collaborate with talented peers from different backgrounds and get mentored by successful Austin entrepreneurs.

The event is free for participants, open to all majors, and we’ll even provide food for all three days.

The Spring 3DS Austin program will take place April 8-10. If you’re interested in participating or learning more, please visit austin.3daystartup.org to apply by March 13.
