Description:LAPMS is student organization at the University of Texas. We seek to fulfill the University’s need for an organization that welcomed students from all colleges embarking on a non-traditional route to medicine. Whether our passions lie in government, psychology or biochemistry, we all share the common aspiration of helping others via the field of medicine. Through volunteer opportunities, social events, and peer counsel, the Liberal Arts Pre-Med Society aims to support and encourage all those on the journey to medical school.
Three Day Start-Up Program
3 Day Startup is a non-profit that runs 72-hour weekend workshops that teach entrepreneurial skills to university students in an extreme hands-on environment. They’ve ran over 130 programs on 5 continents at schools such as MIT, NYU, Harvard, and Technion Israel.
3DS is open to undergrad and grad students of any discipline and could be a great opportunity for freshmen LAHers to learn about entrepreneurship early on in their college career.
There’s an upcoming 3DS Austin program Oct. 24-26, and the application can be here found at austin.3daystartup.org. The deadline is Oct. 5.

European Union Student Conference at Yale – Costs Covered
From February 13 to February 14, 2015, eighty undergraduate and graduate students from US universities will gather at the Yale School of Management to discuss the future of the European Union. There will be five workshops: borders (focused on immigration in the Mediterranean), the transatlantic relationship (focused on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership), innovative economy (focused on youth unemployment), democratic participation (focused on the rise of far-right extremism) and identity (focused on social solidarity in Europe). In each workshop, students will develop their visions and strategies together with an EU policy-maker and a distinguished professor with a background in EU studies. At the end of the conference students will present their conclusions to a representative from the European Commission. Furthermore, participants will create a US-based student think tank, through which they will dedicate their creativity, ingenuity and time to build the future of the European Union. Applications are due on October 27 (both undergraduates and graduates) and December 1 (only undergraduates, 2nd round). Please download the application form and apply at www.escatyale.com. BDP Application Deadline October 9th
Bridging Disciplines Programs Fall 2014 Application Deadline: October 9th, 5 p.m.
BDP offers students the opportunity to earn an interdisciplinary certificate in one of 15 topics. Interested students should attend one of our Information Sessions offered every Tuesday 11-noon and Wednesday 3-4 in FAC 4. Students can learn more about how to apply on our website. Submit an application and essay by 5 p.m. to FAC 338 on October 9th. Our next application deadline will be in early March.

he LBJ School of Public Affairs will present Israel’s Major General Meir Dagan, former Director of the Mossad, for a public lecture titled “The Middle East at a Crossroads: An Insider’s Perspective” on Oct. 14 at 5:15 PM at the LBJ School’s Bass Lecture Hall.
This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required. To register, visit: https://meirdagan.eventbrite.com. An event ticket will be required for admission. Backpacks, book bags, and large purses will not be allowed into the event.
