2022 ENTRY FORM AND INFORMATION NOW AVAILABLE

Dear Texas History and Speech Enthusiasts:

The information packet and entry form for the 97th Annual Oratorical Contest of the Battle of Flowers Association are now available! From the Great Storm of 1900, to a heart-wrenching school explosion in New London in 1937, wind’s devastating power during tornado season to feeling the earth shake due to a natural disaster is something one will never forget. Each of these pivotal events played a vital role in reshaping the great state of Texas and Texans. These events and the people who survived them each marked a moment of change for our state and its citizens. This year’s topic “Defining Disasters…Reshaping Texas & Texans” invites you to take a trip back in time to discover and share the stories of the blockbuster events that altered the course of Texas and its people forever.

The Battle of Flowers Oratorical Contest is the oldest college level forensics contest in Texas, having been held annually on a topic of Texas history since 1926. The BOFA is proud to support the education and collegiate forensics experience of our winners through prize money awarded to the top five finalists and their institutions. Our contest is open to any undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a Texas university or college.
