Digital Humanities Lab at Germanic Studies Events Series

The DHLab@GS continues its online DH events series DHLunch@GS (program and registration here: https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/germanic/digital-humanities-events.php).

GraduAsian

WHEN: Wednesday, May 19, 2021 6PM

WHERE: Virtual

Based on the feedback received from students during the 2019-2020 academic year,  the Multicultural Engagement Center is excited to revive GraduAsian this year. GraduAsian is a ceremony held to commemorate the many achievements of UT’s graduating APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) students. This year, GraduAsian will be held virtually in addition to having a dedicated page to recognize our graduating APIDA students.

Students participating in the ceremony will also receive a custom GraduAsian stole. For more information and updates, visit the GraduAsian website.

First-Gen Longhorn Graduation

WHEN: Wednesday, May 19, 2021 11AM

WHERE: Virtual

Hosted by the Multicultural Engagement Center, the First-Gen Longhorns Graduation recognizes the accomplishments of all graduating students who will be the first in their families to earn a college degree. This year, we will be celebrating students’ achievements virtually in addition to having a dedicated website. We are also continuing with the tradition of providing our graduating first-generation college students with a stole. Visit the First-Gen Grad website for updates.

Fullbright Writing Workshop

Personal Statement & Grant Writing Workshops – Dr. Sonia Tamar Seeman, UT Austin Fulbright Program Chair and Advisor

We are offering two 90-minute writing workshops to get you started! One writing workshop for the English Teaching Assistant (ETA) personal statement and one workshop for the research grant proposal. Please see the dates below:

In this workshop we will:

  • Strengthen your prose
  • Organize your writing
  • Edit your own and others’ proposals or personal statements
  • Analyze examples of successful proposals
  • Uncover on-going resources for the grant writing process
  • Learn about what should be included in your proposal and personal statement

To make the most of your session:

Bring your drafts and ideas AND get started on your proposal or essay!

Fullbright Info Session

The 2022-2023 Fulbright application cycle is now open!

Fulbright awards graduating seniors, recent graduates, and alumni to conduct academic work abroad in all disciplines, including: STEM, social sciences, humanities, and the performing and creative arts.  A number of countries also offer grants for those who wish to serve as English teaching assistants.

We encourage students to attend a Virtual Information Session and the Writing Workshop. All workshops will be conducted virtually over Zoom. In order to receive an invitation with the Zoom link you must RSVP to the contact below.

Campaign Bootcamp

Campaign Bootcamp is a nonpartisan immersive program that provides attendees with the skills and knowledge necessary to prosper in the world of political campaigns. Not only will attendees gain a thorough understanding of political campaigns but, Campaign Bootcamp also equips participants with the skills needed to be an effective, efficient, and well-rounded campaign staffer.

Attendees will learn the ins and outs of a political campaign across three days of virtual training. They will have opportunities to network with peers and to compete for Texas Tribune Fest tickets. Liberal Arts in Medicine panel for LAH students

Join us for the fourth installment of The Futures Initiative, a program highlighting how studying humanities and social sciences prepares students for public and professional lives of purpose. Four UT Liberal Arts alumni will be joining us via Zoom to talk about the important work they do in the medical field, as well as how their liberal arts background helps on the job.
